Gaylord Memorial Stadium is located on campus, north of Lindsey St., and has a capacity of 83,489. It’s the 15th largest college stadium in the nation, and the 41st largest stadium in the world.
History
Owen Field of Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium is home of the seven-time National Champion Oklahoma Sooners. The original site of the stadium hosted its first game in 1923, and since has been through several renovations and additions, to become what is now known as the Palace on the Prairie.
Events
Gamedays in Norman are always a party. All around the stadium and campus, you can find areas for tailgating before games. Campus corner is also a great place to hangout before, during or after the games. There are many concessions inside the stadium to accompany guests, featuring a Pizza Hut, Taco Mayo and Fletcher’s Corn Dog. There are many drink vendors in the stadium as well selling water, soda and alchohol.
